Cyber Defenders Institute (CDI)

LANL is pleased to announce a new summer workshop for Challenge students that will be held in conjunction with the 2003 Summer Teacher Institute at San Juan College in Farmington, NM, from July 6 - 18, 2003. The 2003 Cyber-Defenders Institute (CDI) is a new program for high school Challenge students in which students will complete a cyber-security project under the direction of a LANL cyber-security professional and will learn valuable computer skills such as C++ and/or C programming, UNIX, project management, cyber-security analysis, network administration, and research. Upon completion of the program, students will be eligible to be employed by LANL during the summer of 2004 (or upon graduation from high school) in the College Cyber-Defenders program.

Participating students will be provided with the following:

- Hotel accomodations from July 6 - 18, 2003 (chaperones provided) 
- Transportation and chaperones for all events 
- $300 food stipend ($25/day) 
- All books and supplies 
- $250 for successfully completing the program

  in the 2003 Cyber-Defenders Institute and what you will gain from being 
  involved in this program. 
- A letter of reference from a sponsoring teacher. 
- An unofficial copy of your high-school transcripts.

Selected students will be announced in early June. Enrollment is limited and applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to apply early!
